Tattoos originated 5000 years ago. Tattoos have served as marks of rank, symbols of religious faith, adornment for bravery and courage, sexual attraction, pledges of love, protection, etc. since ancient times. The icon and impact of tattoos differs in various places and cultures. Until recently, there were no negative associations in the past. Tattoos are associated with criminals or the naval community. But there is nothing wrong with tattoos because they are merely symbols being inked on a person's skin. You see, people tend to view something as wrong if it has be done by criminals or people who are not agreeable in society.
As for me, I see tattoos are for us to mark the sweet memories in parts of our skin, so everyday when we see the tattoo, we will always remember not to take things for granted as many things only happen once in a lifetime. I also believe tattoos can be used as locking up painful memories under our skin, because they can act as reminders not to make the same mistake again. Every tattoo has a story lying beneath the skin.
I definitely agree with you that people with tattoos do not mean that they are bad people. Tattoos can be some marks that represent our sweet memories or even some reminders that encourage us not to make some mistake again. One of my friend have tattoos too, and that tattoos is "regretful", which always remind him that he cannot do anything make him regret again. So, tattoos does not always mean a harm to people's reputation.
ReplyDeleteI believe that tattoos are a form of expression for some people, and are like artwork, similar as to what you stated. Many people with tattoos want them as a way to display part of their personality, or like you said a story. I also agree that people with tattoos are too often given the stereotype as being criminals. However, my boyfriend's aunt has a tattoo of a heart with the initials of her children inside, and she is definitely not a criminal. People get tattoos as a way to express their feelings or personality. Every tattoo is different and says something different about each person. However, I do believe that tattoos can give bad first impressions when it comes to interviewing for jobs or meeting new people who you need to impress. Despite the fact that we should not judge others based on their appearances, including tattoos, we do.
ReplyDeleteYeah, people like having ways to remember events in their lives. Some get tattoos. I like taking pictures. I think it’s interesting how tattoos have changed overtime. I admire the commitment that people make when they get a tattoo, that or impulsiveness.
ReplyDeleteI really like your last sentence " Every tattoo has a story lying beneath the skin." I think in society, the image of tattoo label people as being naughty and bad. But actually, getting a tattoo is not an easy thing for someone to do. I think each tattoo have a very meaningful story behind it because my dad also have tattoos. He got it after he escaped to America for freedom. His friends and him got eagle tattoo to express their happy feeling of finally escaping the communist.
